This is the fourth and finished stage of an art-trade with Mithgariel
Behold the finished cover for Mithgariels Novel *Big City*! All about this is made in a traditional way... on purpose. I'm not good enough to paint on the computer yet and I like the little imperfections, showing the handicraft. Technical inkpen (0,35 mm) on paper. Here is the former stage. [link] Dear Diana. I hope you enjoy this! Sorry for the watermark, but this cover belongs to Edit 4.5.09: Over 3000 views and I'm blown away... I don't know what Mithgariel did, but bthis number of views is stunning!!! Thanks to all!!! Mithgarial proposed a black and white cover. No shading, black and white. A new challenge because I never did that before. Mithgariel promised to write me an erotic story about my favourite RPG character Cronachan and requested a cover for her novel *Big City* in return. I tell you... that is not easy. The story may not be my favourite genre but is written really good with many plots and storylines. So I had to consider which characters to put on the cover. One, two... what about the composition, the layout, the title... A cover shouldn't be too complicated but not too plain either... Many things to consider. I had several characters in mind and settled with Enoch, Grace and between them Logan. The composition and expressions of those three I chose carefully and the ripped-off sleeve of Logan's shirt is on purpose as is his sligtly claw-like hand. With the poses I tried to show something about the attitude of the protagonists. All of those details are supposed to hint at the story without telling too much, so if you want to know more, READ IT! By the way... this is my first cover for a book EVER! ... and I hope I made myself clear in the desperate attempt to explain all considerations which went into this piece. |

Your request had made me think, work and learn. Now that is a good thing isn't it?
It was challenging, it was fun and I hope you can use it! Thank you very much for the fav and I hope the file reached you via mail too...

I'm not supposed to BE nice...
But anyways: as I told you in mail, I'm going to keep it and publish mah book with it! That's how much I love it.
And now you've just got to tell me what technique you used. Some kind of pastels? The resolution was huge, but it's a bit hard to tell from a scan.

Simple technique. I used only five things: Imagination, paper, technical pencil, eraser and technikal inkpen.
That is the reason why the black has some lighter spots... I coloured the whole expanses of blackness with the inkpen, which is only 0,35 mm wide at the tip. I had to deepen the black though in Photoshop because of the colour of the scanner light. It was a little greenish then. Now it looks on the screen like in real life.

You iz nuts!
And have I already mentioned how much I love it?
I'm gonna have it all over the place - gallery preview, and I'm gonna change the chapter previews as well. Cause this looks... just right, you know. You've somehow managed to capture the essence.
