Description

Woohooo.... The second finished piece of my personal 24-Theme-Challenge.

This is *Words*.
Since Helmorui have a special sign language, called 'Comhartha' I thought it to be very befitting to paint that. The hands and fingers of Helmorui are very slender and nimble, they are perfect for this complex language (that is exactly the same like the sign language of the famus drow. I am quite aware of that.)
Whole discussions can be led in Comhartha. This is Cronachan, wearing his embroidered velvet vest, showing the sign for *words*.

My model was Lothar, my best buddy.

This is very nicely done. I love the pose the hands are going for. However, this is not bad criticism so don't take it the wrong way. I'm sure many people come around to annoy the hell out of you with something that might sound the way I'm trying to put it, but, if you are going for your own type of dark elf, why not just jumping entirely into it? You seem to have enough material. I would consider a few changes, and that's it. Then again, that is just a suggestion. I know it can be difficult with all the stories that are done about the famous dark elves, and specially the ones that took the myth of the dark elves and turned them into the drow that we know and... apparently love, or at least feel intrigued towards them. There are certain elements of fantasy that people expect to have respected. Fantasy in that sense is not like science fiction - sadly, But it's not impossible to create something new from something that seems overused. I think you certainly have the talent for it.

At least what I did, I stopped focusing on dark elves altogether and went deeper into something that is rarely talked about: half drow, or half dark elves. There's little to no info about them, no social structure even if they are "good" unlike their siblings. I can tell you, it's been hard, but it's been fun. That was just me of course. I am certain that with all the material you have you can reach to the vision you have of dark elves. Reading on what exists of mythology maybe can help too. Regardless, I cheer for you and your art.
